My collaboration with Jenn Nelson, founder of Rhuah Psychotherapy Services, began through a trusted client referral. With over 27 years of clinical experience supporting frontline workers, healthcare professionals, and individuals navigating acute stress and complex trauma, Jenn needed an online presence that matched the depth and warmth of her work.
Her existing WordPress website was outdated and clinically rigid, failing to reflect her grounded, eclectic, and somatic approach to therapy. She needed a digital sanctuary that felt warm, safe, and deeply human.
To capture the true essence of her practice, I visited Jenn’s Ottawa studio in person. Walking into her space revealed an extraordinary blend of clinical wisdom and artistic warmth: leaded-glass bookcases, turquoise metal toolboxes, sensory tools, sand trays, and tactile animal pointers. Rather than using generic stock photos, I photographed her actual space and translated her physical studio into rich digital textures—incorporating her home’s tactile cement texture for callout bars and weathered rust tones for the footer. A standout highlight was vectorizing Jenn’s personal tattoo—an organic shape representing Ruach (breath and vital life force)—into a custom brand mark and site favicon.
On the backend, I rebuilt the site from the ground up on Squarespace, restructuring multiple fragmented pages into three core client-centered pillars: Trauma, Brainspotting & Somatic Therapies, Cognitive & Behavioral Therapies (CBT & DBT), and Supervision & Consultation. The project was completed with 100% SEO optimization, custom metadata, and direct Google Search Console indexing.
